The event opens at 10am and closes at 4pm.

The entry fee is £1 per person (Island Resident), under 5s go free. Cash is preferred so please bring cash if you can. The entrance fee includes entry to the museum.

Yes please, bring along your driving licence or a utility bill.

By car: There will be plenty of parking available at the site for free. Parking will be in a field so please take care with uneven surfaces. On arrival please follow the directions of the parking marshals and park where instructed. 

By bus: Southern Vectis is offering £2 single bus fares currently. The nearest bus stop to the Villa is Morton Road, follow the brown signs to walk up to the Villa.

Disabled parking is available – this is on a field but close to the event entry point. The museum is fully accessible, the event site is on uneven ground so caution is required.

There will be food and drink stalls at the event and the museum’s café will be open throughout the event. But you are also welcome to bring a picnic if you prefer. No Alcohol is allowed on site

Both! However please try and use cash for the £1 entry where you can as this will speed up entry for all attendees.

Dogs on leads are allowed on site but not allowed into the museum.

There will be various Roman-themed activities taking place outside the Villa, including shield painting, sword and mosaic making and a Roman soldier school. The museum will be open and there will be story-telling at points throughout the day.

 

In the main event area there will be bouncy castles, a vintage funfair, an event arena with entertainment through the day and a Roman battle re-enactment and a voluntary fair, where over 40 voluntary organisations will be showcasing what they do and giving you the opportunity to get involved with a range of activities.

We are inviting children to come to the event dressed as a Roman to join our mascot, Nipper, and his Roman army. At 1.30pm a Roman Parade will take place with prizes for best Roman fancy dress, swords and shields. Make a shield and sword on the day or make them at home and bring them with you!

The museum and grounds are strictly no smoking.

There is no shelter at the site so please bring suitable clothing. The event will take place unless there is extreme rain or wind making it unsafe to continue.
